If you are thinking about purchasing a solar PV energy system, you are going to hear the term SREC. What exactly is an SREC? The term SREC refers to a Solar Renewable Energy Credit which is a tradable credit that represents all the clean energy benefits of electricity generated from a solar electric system. Each time a solar electric system generates 1000kWh (1MWh) of electricity, an SREC is issued which can then be sold or traded separately from the power. 

 We have teamed up with Sol Systems to get you the best price for your SREC's.  If your system is over 10kW you can sell your credits directly to the utility providers, otherwise you must go through an aggregator, like Sol Systems.  Currently they will purchase your SRECs for $250.00 each. The credits are then combined with SRECs they have purchased from other Solar System owners and sold in bulk to utility companies.    

 We will provide you with an agreement that assigns the environmental attributes of your system (the SRECs) to Sol Systems so that they can aggregate and sell them to an energy provider. After completing the application process and signing a contract with Sol Systems you will begin to receive payments for your SRECs. Payments are made quarterly upon Sol Systems’ sale of your SRECs.

You can and will continue to use the power you are producing with your solar PV system while it is generating SRECs!
